Knowing unknowing

It was a dreadful night, when I understood that I couldn't just live my days studying the wisdom held in the books of the ancients. Human, Dwarven or Elvish, they all missed something. The harsh truth that, though knowledge can be found in books, it cannot be attained by reading them. The damp libraries of the abbey could no longer hold my desire to experience knowledge and not just be aware of it. I had to be on the top of the hill and not just listen to what the dead oaks were telling me. I was in the middle of a millenar crowd that never knew, but spent its life glimpsing at reflections from what the highgrounded skeletal heroes of the past showed. They knew nothing. I knew as much.
