The colored sunlight that poured from the stainedglassed windows of my empty and cold confinement was enough for me. I found happiness just watching what the light could do when refracted in the world. We were vessels for that refraction. Reflecting the light was something admirable, but it was in its refraction that beauty could be truly found and the light could be fully understood. The philosophy of the light was no dogmatic religion nor a fundamentalist cult, but a path of understandment and discovery. I was on that path. When I finally decided to leave the abbey and join the holy army, I was determined to understand and experience the refraction of light in my life and in everyone around me. What I was to understand, was that the beauty of refraction could also hide the true aspects of the light. Just as its reflection could blind you... I learned that stainedglasses can deceive you. Just as we can be lying, even though we are telling the truth.
